What’s On in Brisbane over Christmas and New Year

With the holiday approaching in just two days I’m sure you’re all making exciting plans for your week off. But if you need some help, there are so many things happening over the next few weeks!

Christmas Eve (tomorrow!) starts with a traditional Brisbane event- Carols by Candelight! I beautiful night with lovely traditional Christmas carols. A wonderful way to spend Christmas Eve. More details here.

Not sure what to do Christmas Day? There is a free picnic lunch in the Botanical Gardens! It’s a welcoming event for people that are new to Brisbane- so, if you don’t have any plans, go to this lovely picnic! More details here.

On Boxing Day the sales begin! There will be so much good shopping everywhere starting on Boxing Day. If you love to shop, go to the Queen St Mall or your nearest shopping centre and find a bargain!

The Woodford Folk Festival begins on the 27th December, and it’s an awesome way to spend a few days camping. Great music, a very very relaxed atmosphere and beautiful countryside mean that this festival is a truly Australian experience. More information here.

If you love movies, the Brisbane Moonlight Cinema has some great movies shown outside on the big screen. It’s a beautiful way to see a great movie on a warm summer night. Mockingjay is showing on Boxing Day and a special sing-a-long version of Frozen will be on New Year’s Day, the 1st January. More details here.

As for New Years, there a so may options! You could go to the huge Retro Ball at the Brisbane Showgrounds, maybe have a relaxed night with some live music at the free Archive party, the hilarious costume Geek Party at the Powerhouse, or just relax at Southbank and watch the fireworks (but get there early- Southbank is always busy at New Years!)
