If you feel more spiritual, there is a fascinating Tibetan Festival on at the Powerhouse in New Farm. Come and see the amazing displays and findĀ painting, meditation, contemplation, lectures and talks, and Tibetan dumpling cooking demonstrations! More information here.

For a something a little strange, on Sunday there is a beauty contest for men with beards. This contest is all about the most beautiful beard, and there is certainly a lot of competition! Come see all of the wonderful facial hair on Saturday here.

For Australia day itself (on Monday) there is so much happening. You could try one of a million bars or pubs, or try an organised party like this one at Kangaroo Point. They have DJs, a surf machine, a delicious spit roast and plenty of drinks to keep you cool.

Finally, what is a more Australian way to spend Australia day than by going to Australia Zoo? There’s all the usual animals and crocodile shows, but with some extras- there will be damper (special Australian bread) and a pie eating contest! Check out all the information here.

Hope you all have fun this weekend! Happy Australia Day!
