It’s an exciting time of the year here in Brisbane as we finally say goodbye to those Winter blues, and say hello to the warm inviting Spring! The beginning of September also marks the start of the annual Brisbane Festival, with celebrations commencing this weekend!
Running from the 5th of September until the 26th of September, Brisbane City will come alive with its many free concerts free daily activities as well as showcasing some of the best original local talent. My personal favourite is the light and laser shows! (see picture for reference).

Fancy yourself a bit of a motor head? Then be sure to take a trip up to Mt Coot-tha this Saturday to watch the biggest racing event in Brisbane – The Coot-tha Classic. The day will be jam packed with hot cars, fast laps and free musical entertainment. Be sure to get there early to secure yourself the best seats on the sideline to watch both amateur and professional racers beat their best times on this iconic mountain run. The event starts from 8:30am and runs until 5:00pm. If you’ve got time to spare, why not hang around in the afternoon to watch Brisbane light up as the sun sets over the city? Perfect!
Want to see Brisbane from a different point of view? On the first Sunday of every month, Roma Street station will showcase the newly restored Locomotive Steam Train which is available to guests to take a tour around Brisbane. It’s a great chance to experience this little piece of Queensland history while soaking up the beautiful Brisbane surrounds. Tickets are $25 for adults and $22 for students – so be sure to take your Lexis student card with you to get the discount. The tour lasts for about an hour, and spaces are limited. Book your tickets here. Choo choo!
Stay safe, and enjoy the weekend! 🙂
