Wow! Who made it out to Riverfire last weekend? Wasn’t it spectacular?! If anyone has any photos of the fireworks, or just some happy snaps of yourselves with your friends, please be sure to post them up on our Facebook page for us to see! 🙂
This weekend unfortunately doesn’t have any big fireworks displays, but there is still a lot to do in and around sunny Brisbane! Take a look at a couple of events going on this LONG weekend.
Next week is set to become VERY hot, so why not enjoy some outdoor entertainment and ice-cream by the Brisbane River to cool things down? Starting this Friday (2/10), the Southbank Forest Greens will come alive with free musical entertainment during the day, and by nightfall the stage/screen will be transformed into an outdoor cinema! Starting from 5:30pm, you can enjoy some freshly cooked food, icy cold beverages from the licensed bar and bring in the weekend with your friends while sitting out under the stars. Each night, the screen will be playing various newly released movies for your viewing pleasure, and every Sunday from now until the event’s end (November 15th) the lawn will play host to live music, games and the chance to win some awesome prizes – plus FREE BEN & JERRY’S ICE-CREAM for EVERYONE! (I know I’m keen!!). Visit the official website here to book your tickets for the outdoor cinema, but be quick as spaces are limited!
Consider yourself a bit of a detective mastermind? Then be sure to check out this event while it lasts! Brisbane’s most iconic jail Boggo Road Gaol* is holding a “Great Escape” interactive game for locals and visitors alike! Will you make it out of the creepy corridors of this old, run-down jail in time before it’s too late, or will the mysteries of the jail remain unsolved? Reserve your spot today, before the doors close forever!! (Not really… But I thought it added to the effect! 🙂 ). You are still welcome to visit the jail during business hours to take a tour though! Book your tickets here, or visit the website to read up more about this beautiful iconic building!
*Gaol = original British/Australian English spelling of Jail, most commonly used between 1760 and 1830, but was later stopped. Although some newspapers and articles here in Australia still use the original spelling in their writing. Interesting, huh? 🙂
One of Australia’s most recognised films of all time – Strictly Ballroom has been transformed into a musical! Enjoy all your favourite scenes and music from the movie at this strictly limited time show at QPAC until October 15th. Get your dancing shoes ready, gather your friends and enjoy a night full of great music, fun costumes and swingin’ dance moves! Visit the website for more details.
As previously mentioned, Summer is coming at a rapid pace, bringing not only beautiful beach weather, but also some pretty nasty afternoon storms! So be sure to regularly check the weather forecast before going out, to ensure you don’t get stranded suddenly while out and about!!
Stay safe everyone, and have an awesome LONG weekend! School will resume as normal on Tuesday 6th of October. 🙂
