After a few quiet weeks here in the Sunshine City, we have found a couple of events and fun stuff that you might be interested in this weekend! Keep on reading!
Cosmic Closing Event – As part of the BrisAsia Festival: Friday 26th February
Come on down to Post Office Square (on Queen Street) this Friday night to dance the night away at this free performance. Local talent Deep Blue Orchestra will be providing you with live entertainment, and there will be food stalls and licensed areas for you to have a few sneaky Friday night drinks. Sounds good to me!
Study Brisbane – City Welcome Festival: Saturday 27th February
International students are encouraged to come along this Saturday to the Study Brisbane City Welcome festival! There is a full day of fun, activities, games and prizes to be won – even a free BBQ just for you! 🙂 There will be stalls exhibiting all things useful to students living in Brisbane! It might be particularly helpful especially if you’re new to Australia and need that extra little push to get settled into your new home. Check out the official website for more information and to also download a PDF timetable for the day.
Brisbane Comedy Festival: 27th February – 23rd March
This Brisbane Comedy festival is back again this year at the Brisbane Powerhouse. Starting this Saturday, dozens of international and local comedians return for another round of side-splitting laughter and entertainment. There is a big line up of shows and comedians to see, so be sure to check it out – tickets on sale now! Take a look at the website for more information.
Japanese Performance: Sunday 28th February
Come and celebrate true Japanese culture in the heart of Roma Street Parklands this Sunday. There will be food stalls hosted by Brisbane’s top Japanese restaurants, traditional and contemporary Japanese music and dance performances, Taiko drumming demonstrations and more! This event starts at 12pm and goes until 6pm. Be sure to drop in if you’re around the area!
That’s it for this week. Even though Summer is slowly leaving us, those sneaky summer storms are still likely to appear. Remember to plan your journey ahead of time to avoid getting stuck. You can also keep track of what’s happening with the weather around Brisbane via the BOM website.
Be safe, have fun, and enjoy the weekend! 😀
