It’s all about sports this weekend in Brisbane!

Good morning everyone!

The Sunshine City becomes the Sports Capital as Brisbane comes alive with many sporting events kicking off across the weekend! Australians absolutely LOVE their footy, especially us Queenslanders. So why not join in on the fun and check out some of the headlining games happening this weekend? 🙂

what 1
This Saturday afternoon, the ‘Gabba‘ will be covered in maroon, blue and gold colours as the Brisbane Lions take on their fellow QLD team the Gold Coast Suns. AFL (or Aussie Rules as we like to call it) is a little different to your usual football game. It’s very unique in its own way, and is a great Aussie sport to get into! 🙂 So if you’ve never been, or even if you’ve never heard of AFL before, I recommend going along to this game – it’s bound to be good! 🙂 The game kicks off 4:35pm. Tickets start from just $25, and can be purchased on the official Brisbane Lions website. After the game, why not head over to the Chalk Hotel in Wooloongabba with your mates and all the other Lions fans for some celebratory drinks? Cheers!

Rugby League more your sport? Then be sure to head on over to Suncorp Stadium this Saturday night to watch the Brisbane Broncos take on the Newcastle Knights! The 2015 Grand finalist Broncos are #1 on the scoreboard again this year, and they are ready to defend their title again this week in front of their home crowd. This Saturday at the game is also a little special, as the theme for the evening is ‘Superheros’. They will have plenty of pre-game entertainment, games and activities for all, and even a prize for the best dressed superhero fan! Tickets start from $20 and can also be bought online here. See you there, (I’ll be in the front row)! 🙂

Here’s one for the tennis fans! This weekend sees the return of the World-Group Playoffs between Australia and the USA over at the Pat Rafter Arena. Cheer on our Aussie tennis stars as they take on the best players that America has to offer over this two-day battle of the nations. Gates open from 9:45am and will run throughout the day on both Saturday and Sunday. Tickets can be purchased through Ticketek, but be quick as seats are filling up fast! AUSSIE AUSSIE AUSSIE! OI OI OI! 😀

If sports is not your style, there are still plenty of other things to see and do around Brisbane! Why not have a picnic with your friends along the river, or go see a show at QPAC? Or there is always chocolate at Max Brenner over in South Bank! 🙂

The weather this weekend is looking to be a little warm with the chance of some scattered showers. Our rainy season is running a little late this year, so there is still the chance of some unexpected afternoon storms – so be sure to always check online for updates on the weather, and plan ahead! Check the BOM website for updates/warnings and to watch the rain radar, (plus it’s really fun)!!

Have a great weekend everyone! 🙂
