Good morning everyone!
I can’t believe it’s the end of another month!! We are now entering the final month of Autumn and welcoming in the Winter blues… But that doesn’t stop us from having fun this month! Keep reading on to find out more. (Copies of the calendar can also be picked up from Reception or Student Support desks).
I LOVE this time of year. Why? Because we have so many long weekends! 😀 So don’t forget that we have yet another long weekend this week! We won’t be getting another for a very long time, so enjoy it while it lasts… 😛 School will resume as normal on Tuesday (3/5) and Jobs Workshop is on after Option Class – Room 12. As it’s getting cooler, we thought we’d include more sports in this month’s calendar – so back by popular demand is Soccer on Wednesday afternoon (4/5). Be sure to sign up with your friends at reception! For the Star Wars fans, today is also Star Wars Day! Tara might have a prize for you if you wear something Star Wars themed/tell a Star Wars joke – anything! Be creative! May the Fourth be with you. 🙂 Thursday (5/5) this week we have our Idioms Workshop over in Room 12. This week’s topic is “Feelings”. Friday (6/5) we have our popular Cafe Conversation Club. Practice your speaking skills in the real world over some coffee and cake – yum!
Monday (9/5) we kick off the week with our Grammar Workshop – this week’s topic is all about the “1st Conditional” – Room 12 at 2pm. Wednesday (11/5) is the return of our most popular activity – Lone Pine!! Come spend the afternoon patting the kangaroos, learning about Australian wildlife and getting your photo taken with a koala. We will be leaving Lexis early at 11:50am – more information will be posted closer to the date. You must pay for your ticket at Reception no later than Tuesday afternoon. Tickets are $19.20. Please sign up at Reception. Thursday’s (12/5) workshop this week is all about Phrasal Verbs that use“in” and “on”; – Room 12 at 2pm. To end the week, we have Yoga with Sarah on Friday (13/5) afternoon. Be one with your body, spirit and mind. Limited to 14 people only, so be quick to sign up at reception!
First up this week, Monday’s (16/5) Grammar Workshop continues learning all about conditionals, this time it’s the “2nd Conditional”; Room 12 at 2pm. Because it was so popular this month, we decided to include our Bowling Afternoon at Strike again in May. Games are $14 each and we pay at the door. Be sure to sign up at reception by Wednesday (18/5) if you want to come along! Thursday (19/5) you’ll have 2 activities to choose from: Over in Room 12 will be our Pronunciation Workshop – learn all about the Phonemic Chart. Option 2, we will have the lovely Lien from Backpackers World Travel joining us for a Travel Trivia afternoon. There will be prizes to be won including gift vouchers to travel around Australia! Sign up at Reception to be a part of the fun! 😀 Friday (20/5) will be our Cafe Conversation Club again, down at Merlo Cafe. Please sign up at Reception.
In the last week of May, we will have our usual Grammar Workshop on Monday (23/5) – this week’s topic is the “Present Perfect” tense. Wednesday (25/5) Soccer is back again; sign up at reception. Thursday’s (26/5) Idioms Workshop is all about “Colours”, and to wrap up the month of May, we will enjoy a fun-filled afternoon at the Video Game Arcade on Friday (27/5). We can either go to the Myer’s Center or to Timezone on Albert Street – it’s up to you guys! 🙂 Sign up at Reception and remember to bring plenty of gold coins!
That’s it for this month, guys! We hope to see you at some of our activities. If you ever have any suggestions for things we can do, or if you see something fun that you’d like to try out, please let Tara know! 🙂 Have fun and see you next month!
