Do you love foreign films? Here are a couple of events that might interest you. This weekend marks the final days of the Spanish Film Festival at the Palace Cinemas in Paddington. Need a laugh? The Melbourne International Comedy Festival Roadshow is coming to the Brisbane Powerhouse this weekend. Gather your friends for a night full of laughter as the best comedians from Australia and worldwide entertain you well into the night. Also this Saturday, South Brisbane’s most iconic lane way will play host to the annual Fish Lane Festival. This little funky side street (Fish Lane – hence the name) is nestled between Merivale and Grey Street in South Brisbane, and over the years it has expanded to become one of Brisbane’s best dining and entertainment districts. This weekend you get to join in on all the fun! Taste some of Brisbane’s best gourmet foods, chill out to the free music and entertainment and dance the night away with your friends. The festivities kick off at midday and will run well into the night. Consider yourself a bit of a ‘rev-head’? Then be sure to check this out! The Rods and Rockabilly Festival is also on this Saturday over at the Hamilton Hotel. The hotel’s carpark will be filled up with stunning pre-75’classic cars and motorbikes. Check out these classic beauties while enjoying some local food, art exhibitions, the Miss Rods & Rockabilly beauty pageant plus more! Gates open at midday and tickets must be purchased online.

Here’s one for the music lovers. Popular drum & bass band Rudimental will be playing live this Saturday over at the Riverstage. They’ll be performing all their hit songs such as “Never Let You Go”, “Not Giving In” and “Free”. Tickets must be pre-purchased on the Ticketmaster website – you can do so by clicking here.

This Sunday is also Mother’s Day, and to help raise money and awareness for breast cancer, there will be a fun run event starting nice and early at 6am. The Mother’s Day Classic offers both a 4.5km and 8km course which travels along the Brisbane River, South Bank and into West End. It is recommended that you register online, but you can also register at the gates. The marathon will start over in the South Bank Cultural Forecourt at 6am. There will also be live entertainment on the main stage along with various food and drink stalls – all donating to cancer research.

Do you have a lot of wishes you want to come true? Well this weekend is your chance! 😀 There will be a big meteor shower that will be visible in the early hours of the morning from the 6th – 8th of May. It is predicted that there will be at least 1 meteor/shooting star every 3-4 minutes during the peak times; Friday (6/5) peak is expected around 6am, Saturday (7/5) and Sunday (8/5) the peak times will be between 4-5 am.
