The weekend is rapidly approaching – again! These weeks just seem to be flying by, right?! We have found some interesting events happening this weekend in Brisbane, so why not take a look and maybe check some of them out? 😀
An Evening with Beer + Beethoven – May 20:
Starting from 5:30pm this Friday night, the Queensland Symphony Orchestra will be teaming up with Brisbane’s very own Newstead Brewing Company to bring you an evening filled with classic music and ice-cold beverages. The concert starts at 6:30pm over at QPAC in South Bank, but guests can enjoy some pre-concert refreshments by sampling some of the finest beer Brisbane has to offer. The concert will run for approximately 75 minutes. Tickets are $55, (which includes 1 bottle of Newstead Pale Ale). Tickets can be bought through the Queensland Symphony Orchestra website.
Paniyiri Greek Festival – May 21&22:
Happening right across the weekend, the Greek Club over in South Brisbane will be celebrating their 40th anniversary of the Paniyiri Greek Festival. This year is expected to be the biggest year of all, with an expected 60,000 people set to visit over the next couple of days. Join in on the celebrations, sample some of the finest Greek food and dance the weekend away to the Zorba! Big lineup of activities and visits from local Aussie/Greek stars. Entry is $10 and totally worth every cent! 😀
Queensland Hot Rod Show – May 21&22:
This one is for the rev-heads out there! The Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Center in South Bank will be packed to the roof full of classic hot rods, street machines, custom builds and much more! They will have plenty of cars on displays for you to look at, workshops as well as an auction that aims to raise money for charities in need. Entry is $22, and the event will run both Saturday (9am-7pm) and Sunday (9am-5pm).
Rugby Saturdays: QLD Reds vs Sunwolves – May 21:
QLD Reds fans and Japanese football fans alike can look forward to seeing Suncorp Stadium play host to the new Japanese Super Rugby team the Sunwolves this Saturday afternoon. Making their Australian debut, the Sunwolves will be showcasing their best players from their champion team who played outstandingly at last year’s Rugby World Cup. They’ll be playing head to head with fellow players from Japan who have since joined the Reds squad. Tickets are selling out fast, so be sure to secure yours now! Sunday Markets/Festivals – May 22:
There are a couple of interesting markets this Sunday that might be of interest to you.
Sandgate, which is a 30 minute train ride from Brisbane CBD have their monthly markets on again this weekend. This will be their 3rd official market day, with each getting more and more popular every time! Why not make a day of it and have a picnic along the beachfront where you can enjoy the beautiful views of Moreton Bay, or try out one of the many famous beachfront fish & chip shops. A little closer to the CBD, West End will come alive this Sunday night with their monthly Full Moon Fire Spinning Festival. Located in Orleigh Park under the light of the full moon, there will be plenty of activities, performances and workshops for you to enjoy, and you’ll even get the chance to have a go at fire spinning!
