We’ve made it through the first month of Winter everyone! Congratulations! 🙂 We’re now heading into July and we’ve got plenty of activities guaranteed to chase away those Winter blues! So take a look and pencil in those dates! 😉
* Please note: GIL has been changed back to Room 5 (for the 2pm session) and Room 2 (for the 4:30pm session).
** All workshops are back in Room 3, every Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, starting at 2pm. You do not need to sign up for these – just show up! 🙂
*** You must sign up for all Lexis Activities on Wednesday and Fridays. See Tara at Reception for more details.
Starting off the week on Monday (4/7) is our Grammar Workshop. Learn about the differences between the “Past Simple” and “Present Perfect” tenses. Wednesday (6/7) is the return of our Bowling at Strike afternoon. Games are $14 each, which includes shoe hire. Thursday’s (7/7) Phrasal Verbs Workshop is a play on words to do with the “Weather”. Come warm up in Room 3 at 2pm! 😉 Friday (8/7) afternoon is our Cafe Conversation Club afternoon down at Merlo coffee shop. Try your luck with their Flip to Win promotion – guess either a Red or Black card and receive your coffee for FREE! Winning!! 😀
Monday’s (11/7) Grammar Workshop is on the “Present Simple” tense. Wednesday (13/7) of this week sees the return of our ever-so-popular Trip to Lone Pine!! Come along for your chance to hold the Koalas, pat the Kangaroos and feed our beautiful native birds. You MUST sign up AND pay at Reception before 3pm Tuesday. Tickets for Lexis students are only $19, so make sure to come along if you haven’t been before! This Wednesday also marks the 3rd and final State of Origin game. We’re big footy fans here in Brisbane, especially when it comes to cheering on our home team. So make sure to wear your Maroon coloured clothes to school to show your support! 🙂 Thursday (14/7) of this week is our popular Pronunciation Workshop. This is a great workshop to attend if you need help fine tuning those difficult sounds in English. This week’s topic is about “Consonants + Sounds”, focusing on “F”, “V” and “W”. To finish off the week on Friday (15/7), we’ll have our Soccer in the Park activity. This game will be a little different, as it will be dedicated to training for the annual English Australia Soccer Tournament. Click here to see our previous blog with information on how to join up.
Last Monday’s Grammar Workshop was all about the Present Simple tense, this Monday (18/7) is about the “Future Simple” tense – come along to Room 3 at 2pm. Come warm up at this Wednesday’s (20/7) activity Games in the Park. Join us down at the Brisbane Botanic Gardens where we will have soccer balls, frisbees, and various other activities set up for you to play. Idioms Workshop is on Thursday (21/7), with this week’s topic being everyone’s favourite thing – “Money”! Then wind down the end of the week with another Cafe Conversation Club meeting on Friday (22/7).
The last Monday (25/7) of the month’s Grammar Workshop will be all about “Instructions & Imperatives”. You must attend! (just kidding)! 😉 On Wednesday (27/7), come along for a tour on our local ferry the CityCat, and admire our beautiful city from a different point of view! Make sure to bring your GoCards. Phrasal Verbs Workshop is on again this Thursday (28/7). Let’s learn about different verbs that use “Look”. Look out! Last but certainly not least, to finish off the month this Friday (29/7), we’ll be heading on over to the Wintergarden to enjoy an afternoon of Laser Tag! It was a lot of fun last time, and we had a really good turn out! So if you’d like to attend this time, please sign up at Reception.
That’s it for another month! Have you seen something in Brisbane that you’d really love to do, but not sure how or when to do it? Then please come and talk to me (Tara) at Reception, and let me know! I’m always interested to hear your suggestions and ideas for future activities! Maybe we’ll include it on our upcoming calendar? 🙂
Enjoy the rest of our cool June. Stay warm, and see you next month! 😀
