Looking for something to do this weekend? Take a look at our list below of events happening in and around Brisbane this Saturday and Sunday!
Here in Brisbane, we love to boast about our beautiful local beaches. Located north of the CBD, about 40 minutes by car is the beautiful seaside town of Redcliffe, and this Saturday it welcomes back the Redcliffe Festival. It is bigger and better than before, bringing loads of free entertainment, games & activities as well as a spectacular fireworks display for everyone to enjoy. It runs over the next 3 weekends, so if you can’t make it this week, you have until September 10 & 11. Entry is free! 🙂 Take a look at the official website for more information and activity schedules.
Also happening this weekend down the road is the Redcliffe Kite Festival! Who doesn’t love kites?! Pelican Park has always been a favourite flying spot for the kite enthusiasts of Brisbane, and this weekend people from all over town and around the world, will come together to fill the skies with big, bright and beautiful coloured kites. Free entertainment on stage, amusement rides and workshops for all! Entry is also free! Have a look at the website for more information.
This Sunday, the Bridge to Brisbane Fun Run celebrates it’s 20th consecutive year raising money for great local charities. Take part in either a 5km or 10km course which loops through Brisbane City and surrounds. You can walk, run, skip or hop, as long as you have fun we don’t care! Sign up individually or with your mates to help raise some money for charity! 🙂 You must register online, which you can do so here. To read more about what the event is all about, take a look at their website.
Here’s something a little different. This Saturday night over in the historic Tivoli in Fortitude Valley is Australia’s premier Vampyre themed fundraising event the BloodLust Ball 2016. This unique event will see hundreds of locals dressed in stunning, antique costumes all raising money to support blood research with the Red Cross Blood Service. Tickets are $70 at the door, and will run from 6:30pm until late. Edward Cullen, eat your heart out! (hopefully not literally…).
Dinosaur Discovery is back again by popular demand over at the Queensland Museum in South Bank! Their life-like, true-to-size displays always impress the crowds, so if you haven’t had the chance to check it out yet, now’s your chance! I highly recommend this one (especially, of course, if you love our prehistoric relatives)! Tickets are $13.50 for students, (be sure to take your Lexis Cards) or $15 for regular entry. Rawr!! 😀
Love your motorsports? Then this event is for you. The Just Car Insurance Jamboree is back again this year, bringing you loud cars, smokey tires and adrenaline fueled fun this Saturday at Willowbank Raceway.Entry is $35 for the day, which gets you front row seats to all drifting, dragging and show & shine events. Willowbank Raceway is quite far from Brisbane CBD, and accessible by car only, so round up your friends (preferably those with a car) and make a day of it! 🙂 More information about ‘Jambo’ can be found here.
Hope you all enjoy your weekend! As always, stay safe and have fun!! 🙂
