Brisbane is also celebrating the first week with some fun and free events starting this weekend, with plenty more to come in the following weeks. Take a look below at some suggestions for this weekend.


Christmas Movies Under the Stars:
This annual event makes its return this Saturday not only in South Bank, but also in Roma Street Parklands for the first time this year! You’ll be able to watch all the Christmas favourites on the big screens until Friday the 16th of December, so be sure to check it out! The South Bank beach cinema opens next weekend. The Enchanted Garden:
Also over in Roma Street Parklands this weekend is official opening of The Enchanted Garden. Head on over this Friday night from 6:30pm to be amazed by this beautiful Christmas light display. Make sure to take your camera!!

 

Lord Mayor’s Christmas Carols:
Come on down to the Riverstage this Saturday night for this live and free performance by local talented artists. Get into the Christmas cheer and sing along to your favourite carols with your friends! Be sure to get there early to guarantee yourself some good seats! Gates open from 5pm. Read more.

 

Redcliffe Christmas Markets & Carols:
Scarborough’sย Christmas by the Sea event is back and even bigger than before. Enjoy live performances during the day and watch the fireworks display by night. There will be markets, so you can do all your Christmas shopping on the go! Click here for the full rundown of this event.

 

City Hall Light Spectacular:
Starting tomorrow night from 7:30pm down in King George Square is the City Hall light-show spectacular!ย This yearโ€™s story is a playful, Aussie take on The Night Before Christmas. Every 15 minutes after sundown from tomorrow until Christmas Eve, the clock tower will come alive with its unique story-time display. You’re bound to see it at least once while you’re here! ๐Ÿ™‚

 

St Gerard’s Christmas Festival:
What’s Christmas without Christmas lights?! One of the most popular displays on the northside of Brisbane is at the Our Lady of the Angels parish in Chermside, which is famous for its gigantic light angel. They have markets, activities and food. You can visit them any night across the festive season, so be sure to check it out, it truly is pretty!ย Click here to read more.
