Everyone had their speaking tests at Lexis this week, and were feeling very confident with how they went. They’ll finish their remaining exams next week! Good luck guys!!

Today, everyone enjoyed a relaxing morning tea/lunch with their teachers and classmates for the last time. Just look at their happy little faces!! 🙂

Sharing the Cambridge love

Our Cambridge teaching team! (Missing Daniel)

Our Cambridge First, Advanced and Proficiency classes are officially one quarter of their way through their 12-week long course, and they are all working hard and doing very well!

I was chuffed to receive some lovely comments from the students about their Cambridge teachers  and classes, and so I want to share the love!

“The course is well-organised and we can do everything in time.  And everybody gets the opportunity to participate in class.”

“The best teacher. She knows how to make the class interesting.  There is no doubt that she does the job perfectly.”

“I like my teacher. He always tries to teach us clearly.  The class is very interesting.”

“Our teacher gives us good explanation about each part of the Cambridge FCE.”

“A good teacher! He helps me and is always happy.”

“I am happy I chose Lexis.”

Thanks to our students for the great comments.  We wish you all well in your course!

A sunny welcome to our new Cambridge students! :)

This afternoon, we were joined by all of our new Cambridge students out on the sunny terrace! 🙂 What a picture perfect day to enjoy some yummy Aussie snacks under the big blue sky.

All of our Cambridge teachers are excited to share the next three months working together with their students, to help them improve their English skills immensely. They all have a lot of experience to share, so students – please don’t be afraid to ask questions or seek advice from them! 🙂

This afternoon, we were also joined by Lien from Backpackers World Travel, who ran a competition especially for our Cambridge students! The theme was Australian Trivia, and everyone had to guess whether her statements were true or false!IMG_9822

In the end, there could be only one winner – and that winner was Fernando!! 🙂 Congratulations! Fernando has won a travel voucher to Fraser Island. How cool is that?!! 🙂IMG_9823

From all your friends here at Lexis Brisbane – welcome to our new round of Cambridge! 🙂 We know that you will enjoy your courses, study very hard and acheive your English learning goals, whilst having fun!  Good luck for the road ahead everyone! 😀

Testimonial Wednesday – Santiago

We’re back with another student testimonial – let’s meet Santiago!
santiago 1

Santiago arrived in Australia from Colombia and joined Lexis Brisbane at the beginning of 2015. He has spent the last year learning not only English but also about Australia, a new way of life and most importantly himself. Santiago had big dreams before arriving to Australia, and has worked very hard every day since.
santiago 2

Santiago was a big believer in the English Only rule at Lexis, and always encouraged his friends and classmates to use English. He studied English back home in Colombia where he also completed the FCE exam, but said he regretted not coming here sooner! Just last week he completed the IELTS test and is now eagerly awaiting the results to arrive next week. “I’m feeling confident with the reading part, but I was a little nervous with the speaking part. Once I started though, I felt much better”. We’re confident you did well! 🙂

Before Santiago parted ways, we asked him a few questions regarding his time here and his thoughts about Brisbane. Here’s what he had to say…:

What courses did you do at Lexis English?
I did CAE, CPE and IELTS.

What do you think about your classes and teachers?
The classes are full of content and the teachers always try to find the way to transmit their knowledge to the students.

Why did you choose Brisbane? Are you happy with your choice?
Brisbane is a nice cosmopolitan city. I could meet people from all over the world. I find the Brisbane weather easier to cope with as well. I’d never regret choosing this city.

Where are you currently living in Brisbane?
I’m currently sharing a house with 3 people close to the city.

What is your most memorable experience here in Brisbane/Australia?
There are heaps of memorable experiences. I can’t choose just one!

What are your plans for when you return to your home country?
I’m not actually returning to my country just yet. At least not for another 3 years.

Although his journey with us at Lexis Brisbane is over, another journey has begun. Santiago will be enrolled at QUT this July where he will be completing a degree in Business – how cool is that?!

Congratulations for achieving your goals, Santiago. We wish you the best of luck with your new journey! You are always welcome back to Lexis Brisbane any time. 🙂 Be sure to keep in touch!

If you would also like to write a testimonial about your time here at Lexis/Australia, see Tara at Reception and grab a questionnaire. We love hearing from you guys! 🙂
