Patricia from the Business English class held a Belly Dancing class and demonstration as part of our afternoon extra-curricular program.
Patricia has been Belly Dancing for 8 years now and decided to share her skills with the other students. Thanks Patricia!

Accompanied by Vivienne, 7 students had the opportunity to visit North Stradbroke Island for their FCE Retreat.
After a long journey on a train, ferry and bus, the students finally reached their destination of Point Lookout. Here they got to see some amazing views before moving to the main beach for some fun and swimming. On the menu for lunch was Fish and Chips at the local store before heading back to Brisbane at around 4:00pm.
A good time was had by all!
Oscar from Colombia came to GV with absolutely NO English, but he now going for IELTS target 6!
Oscar started at our Noosa campus in June 2005. When he arrived, he couldn’t even say hello. After 7 months of General English, he decided to transfer to the Brisbane campus and completed some more General English, EAP and IELTS.
When he completed his time here in September 2006, he went on to complete a Diploma of Business at a college in the city. His goal is to now gain Permanent Residency and work in his field of Environmental Engineering.
So now he is back! He has joined our IELTS program again, but this time he is aiming for his target of 6.
Good Luck Oscar!
Well done to Heidi’s Upper Intermediate class who won the GV Snail Cup race! (Check out the video below!)
We started with a free barbecue, followed by some hilarious presentations of the racing snail profiles. The profiles are on the windows in the student kitchen if you would like to read them.
Then it was time to race! Very SLOWLY! The snail from Heidi’s class came out on top with a last minute dash for the line, earning them a lunch served by staff members. Well done to everyone involved!

I’m Mariana, the new Director of Studies at GV Brisbane. I have worked at schools, a university and at a teachers’ training college, so my experience is at different levels. I love travelling and meeting people and I have found myself in situations similar to the ones that you students experience here. Because of this background, I know exactly how it feels when trying to learn a language. I believe that I can help you with both my experience and my knowledge of the English language to get around this new country and to find the course that best suits you.
