Lexis Brisbane visits Life Flight! ✈️✈️

Last Wednesday, a group of our Lexis medical professionals visited Life Flight’s helicopter base at Archerfield Aerodrome with their teacher Catherine.

Life Flight have over 130 medical crew and they perform over 4000 patient transfers a year! They attend to incidents such as natural disasters – particularly during the flood seasons, and even rescuing people stranded out at sea.

The aim of this trip was to understand how people in and around Brisbane are transported to hospital by helicopter in an emergency situation. Teacher Catherine took the students here as part of the Accident and Emergency unit; the unit they are currently studying in the EMP/OET course at Lexis Brisbane.

The group also got to see various rescue helicopters ranging in size, from the tiny “Squirrel” – which is used for training purposes, all the way to the massive $20 million AW139‘s!

This excursion was a great opportunity for our students, who are all practicing medicine back home in their countries. It gave them the opportunity to compare their own services with those used in Australia, and in particular – Queensland. What a fantastic idea, Catherine! We hope you all had fun!! 🙂

Get some THRILLS this weekend!!

Looking to do something a little different this weekend? Why not make a day trip down to the Gold Coast and seek some thrills at our amazing theme parks! You might have heard of some of them, or perhaps this is your first time. Either way, they are a load of fun, and definitely should be at the top of your Aussie Adventure To-Do List! Take a look below at the different parks you can choose from.

Dreamworld:

park1
Dreamworld is the biggest theme park in Australia, with over 40 different rides and attractions. When driving to the Gold Coast from Brisbane, it is the first theme park you can see; the iconic Tower of Terror acting as a landmark. Dreamworld is packed full of roller coasters and is a favourite for all the thrill-seekers. They have also just opened their brand new Tiger Island, that offers an up close experience with our stripey furry friends.
Opening Hours: 7 days a week: 10am – 5pm.

Movie World:

Known as Hollywood on the Gold Coast, Movie World brings you a spectacular movie-themed amusement park, that everyone will enjoy! Do you love superheros? Enjoy various attractions that include the favourites – Spider Man, Batman, The Green Lantern and more! There is even a Hollywood Parade that happens daily, and is super fun to watch! Movie World doesn’t have as many thrill rides as Dreamworld, but it still makes for a fun day out!

Wet ‘n’ Wild:
park4

What better way to cool down this Summer than to spend the day at one of our water parks?! Wet ‘n’ Wild is a large water park right next door to Movie World. Challenge the tidal waves in the wave pool, relax in a ring tube in the self spinning whirlpool or have a go on the various giant slides around the park. I recommend taking your own food and water to keep hydrated, as prices inside are quite expensive. So why not take a picnic and soak up the summer sun with your mates?!
Opening Hours: 7 days a week: 10am – 5pm.
Ticket Prices: Click here for ticket prices. Pair up with Movie World and Sea World to save $$!
Getting There & Park Map: Can be found here.

Sea World:
park3
Sea World has been on the Gold Coast since 1971, and was the first major theme park to get built on the Gold Coast. If you love your wildlife, especially our scaly friends, then this is the place for you! There are daily shows, which includes sea lion tricks and dolphin games. You can even go swimming with the dolphins and get a photo taken with them! For those of you looking for the adrenaline rush, don’t worry, there are plenty of rides and roller coasters to keep you busy.
Opening Hours: 7 days a week: 9:30am – 5pm.
Ticket Prices: Package with Movie World and Wet ‘n’ Wild and save $$! Click here.
Getting There & Park Map: Click here.
Show Timetables: Click here for a list of shows and their times.

WhiteWater World:
park5
WhiteWater World is a fairly new water park, built in 2006. It is located right next door to Dreamworld. Not only does it have thrill rides galore, but they also have several retail stores, function rooms and even a surf school! Be sure to check this park out over summer!
Opening Hours: 7 days a week: 10am – 5pm.
